VIA EUROPE....... LAXE (A CORUÑA) TO SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

LAXE. In this concello, there are the ruins of countless water mills that flow into Laxe Beach. Water mills also used to grind the grain and to fill the cloth, as happened with those, perfectly preserved we can visit very close to Laxe, in the Mosquetín. Its famous stone of Roncudo (towns located symmetrically in both banks) and faced not only geographically. «It is said that the inhabitants of Corme enjoy the incredible luck of being able to contemplate Laxe.» In the village you will find places to dine, we will comment that if you like the percebe you are in the place where it is bred better than anywhere, in the Costa da Morte and, within it, the best specimens are given, precisely, in the Stones bordering the Laxe estuary.

If you wish and at no additional cost, we will welcome you on the first day, in the sports center of Laxe, where you can leave your backpacks, take a shower and spend the night. At 10:30 p.m. A meeting will be held at the sports center of Laxe for the presentations of the team that forms the Via de Europa and a summary of the project and activities to be carried out during the five days.

STAGE LAXE – BAIO

Beach, dunes, mountains and megalithic monuments. At 9:00 a.m., from Laxe we begin to ascend Monte de Lourido (approx. 2 km) with magnificent views over the Costa da Morte. Roads and asphalts with little traffic make walking very enjoyable in this first stage. Our view will be recreated with the beach, dunes, mountains, important remains of megalithic monuments in the Dolmen of Dombate. We will pass through the Castro village of Borneiro and arrive until Baio. Accommodation: Sports center de Baio Difficulty: low Distance traveled: 16,27 Km

STAGE BAIO – ZAS

We set off after a nutritious breakfast from Baio. This path delights us with country houses, hórreos, gentle streams, cruises and exuberant nature. Practically flat route where we will pass small streams and extensive cultivation areas, to cross later with the beautiful villages of Vilaestevez, Carreira, Pedramaior, Teixidón and Rosende. At the exit of Zas we can visit: Pazo-museo Torre de Allo and Pazo de Daneiro (very close to Castro in full agricultural and forestry) Accommodation: Zas Sports Center Difficulty: Low Distance: 17,08 Km

STAGE ZAS – SANTA COMBA

We leave Zas, famous for its (wind) wind mills. Very easy stage with a steep slope (1.2 kmts) at the beginning that ends in the rest area of San Roque. We will walk among villages, meadows, plains and farming areas, crossing the Xallas river to reach Santa Comba. For our passage through the Chapel of San Roque and the Chapel of St. Bartholomew, those who like it will be able to visit them. STAGE SANTA COMBA – BEMBIBRE

Departure from Santa Comba. Rises and falls between villages and fertile farmland. Stage with less forests where we will find beautiful lands, and beautiful valleys, at the same time that we discover hórreos and cruises. We will observe the life of towns and villages in places such as Montouto, Abeleiras, Alla, Portochan, Portomoral, Quintans, Pazo, Xermil, Estebande and Vilar, until we meet the Dumbra river that embraces the Tambre in Portomouro. Accommodation: Sports center de Bembibre. Difficulty: low. Distance: 15,04 Km

STAGE PORTOMOURO (BEMBIBRE) – SANTIAGO

It is the final stage, it separates us a distance of only 15.96 kilometers. An exciting awakening, the feeling that has brought us here, is about to be achieved. Dying, reborn, a stone on the road. We will feel the strength of the oak and eucalyptus forest, its smells and freshness. Visits more outstanding of this stage will be Pedra da Meiga, an impressive rock of great energetic energy and beauty. We will arrive to the outskirts of Santiago, we will advance through magnificent Monuments and streets of this city of Santiago until arriving at the end of our adventure. Difficulty: low Distance: 15,96 Km -The approximate time of arrival of the five continents to the Praza or Obradoiro in Santiago de Compostela, will be about 13.00. Reencounter of all the groups that have walked along the Roads of America, Africa, Oceania-Australia and Asia. The entrance is made through five different places in the Plaza, symbolically forming the five-petalled rose in the center of the Plaza. -Visit to the Cathedral. -Programmed food for all walkers. This meal will be based on typical products of the place.
